Concrete jobs often require a little more than just a standard ready mix. From high-strength concrete for high-rise buildings in the city to mass concrete for dams, Holderchem offers specialty concrete mix designs that are best suited for specific projects.
Do you like working on challenging industry projects? We are offering internships for people with strong initiative and proactive communication skills to perform desk research, and field and laboratory testing of construction materials in order to optimize specialty concrete mix designs.
The interns will focus on a specific concrete type, thoroughly reviewing published research pertaining to the specialty concrete under consideration as well as Holderchem and other suppliers’ literature. They will review the concrete mix properties specified by standards, suppliers, practitioners in the field, and literature, to design concrete mixes to achieve desired properties. They will conduct comparative test analysis of admixtures and other specialty products available from Holderchem that are used in the specialty concrete mix designs, confirming their conformity to Technical Data Sheets, seeking optimizations, establishing initial test performance reports, and recommending improvement actions if any.
The interns will in the course of their work conduct laboratory tests of concrete, soils, and aggregates following ASTM, EN, and LIBNOR test methods. They will suggest starting concrete mix design formulations highlighting specific mix properties of interest. Tests shall include Aggregates testing, Concrete Mix Design Testing, and Dry-mix testing wherever applicable.
The interns shall conduct lab and field tests under supervision to validate findings ensuring at all times full traceability in the conduct of their product development work. They shall establish a technical and material safety data sheet for the specialty concrete product developed. In the conduct of their work, they shall strictly adhere to Holderchem’s product development and validation guidelines.
Aggregates testing: (Common work for both subtends)
Section 1: Concrete mix: (Four weeks program)
Section 2: Dry-mix (tile adhesive, waterproofing, and grout): (Four weeks program)
The interns will also conduct routine maintenance, repair, and calibration of laboratory and field equipment.
