Liquid solution used for testing the sand equivalent value
BATIMIX Sand Equivalent Solution (Concentrate) is a
highly effective liquid agent used for evaluating the
sand equivalent value of soils and fine aggregates
according to ASTM D2419-14.
The BATIMIX Sand Equivalent Solution (Concentrate) is used to determine the relative proportion of clay-like fines and dust in fine aggregates in accordance with ASTM D2419. The solution acts as a flocculating agent, dispersing and removing clay coatings from sand particles and suspending the fine materials during agitation. This action produces a clear separation between the sand and clay fractions in a graduated cylinder, allowing calculation of the sand equivalent value, which serves as an indicator of aggregate cleanliness and suitability for use in asphalt and concrete applications.
The BATIMIX Sand Equivalent Solution (Concentrate)
is especially proportioned at high concentration to
easiness of work and supply. It functions by
effectively disintegrating all fine clayey and silty
materials adsorbed onto the soil and sand particles.
Thus, it is suitable with all types of soils including
clayey, silty, and combinations of these.
Prior to use, the solution has to be diluted with water
at a ratio of 1:3 (i.e., each 1 volume of solution is
mixed 3 volumes of clean water). Mixing can be made
manually using any suitable tool for a minimum of 3
minutes.
BATIMIX Sand Equivalent Solution (Concentrate) is
not considered a hazardous product. However, it
should not be swallowed or allowed to come into
contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and
goggles should be worn. For additional information,
kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data
Sheet.
