Water reducers for concrete with improved slump retention

Description

BATIMIX WR-S Series products are high-performance liquid water-reducing admixtures for concrete based on high-grade lignosulphonates blended with selected chemicals to improve slump retention over time.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX WR-S Series products are designed to significantly improve the workability of concrete and effectively reduce free water content. They are particularly suitable for hot weather concreting where a delayed setting of the mix is sought to allow for sufficient time for delivery, placement, and finishing operations.

These products disperse the fine cementitious particles in concrete mixes by electrostatic repulsion and adsorption. By adding these powerful dispersants to the mix, higher than normal concrete strength grades are achieved with reduced cement contents and increased workability.

Applications include all types of plain and reinforced concrete castings such as plain, self-consolidating, precast, ready-mixed, lightweight, pumped concrete, and shotcrete.

In the plastic state:

  • Improved workability without adding extra water
  • Reduced water content up to 18% with minimum secondary effects
  • Better slump retention over time, relevant for hot weather concreting
  • Reduced segregation, particularly in lean mixes with a higher slump

In the hardened state:

  • Increased strengths – compressive, flexural, and bonding
  • Reduced water permeability and shrinkage
  • Improved concrete durability and surface appearance
