Batimix WR 200

Holderchem

Concentrated water reducer for concrete

Description

BATIMIX WR 200 is a liquid water-reducing admixture for concrete. It is based on high-grade lignosulphonate materials.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX WR 200 is designed to improve concrete workability and/or allow an effective reduction in the free water content. It disperses the fine cementitious particles in the concrete mix, enabling the mixing water to perform more effectively and improve the concrete consistency.

Applications using BATIMIX WR 200 include all types of concrete castings such as plain, reinforced, precast, ready-mixed, lightweight, pumped, and shotcrete.

Features

Concrete prepared with BATIMIX WR 200 is characterized by the following:

In the plastic state:

  • Improved workability without adding extra water
  • Reduced water content up to 10% with minimum secondary effects
  • Increased homogeneity with minimum segregation and bleeding
  • Normal setting characteristics under cool conditions

In the hardened state:

  • Increased strengths – compressive, flexural, and bonding
  • Reduced shrinkage, creep, and water- permeability
  • Enhanced concrete durability and surface- appearance

Properties

  • Appearance : brown liquid
  • Specific gravity : 1.15 ± 0.02 at 23 ºC
  • Chloride content : nil
  • Alkali content: typically less than 4.5% as Na₂O
  • Air entrainment : less than 1.5% increase at normal dosages

Health and Safety

BATIMIX WR 200 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.

Compliance with Standards

BATIMIX WR 200 is compliant with the following standards:

• EN 934-2 : T2 • ASTM C 494 Type A

Dosage Rates

The optimum dosage of BATIMIX WR 200 to meet specific requirements is best determined by trials using the actual concrete formulation with site materials under conditions that will be experienced in the field. As a guide to such trials, the addition rates shall vary from 0.4% to 1.5% of the cementitious materials.

Effect of Overdosing

An overdose of BATIMIX WR 200 will generally produce an increase in the slump and, in certain circumstances, a significant increase in air entrainment. Retardation in the initial and final setting times will also be noticed. However, if the concrete is properly cured, the ultimate strength will not be impaired by such setting retardation.

Compatibility

BATIMIX WR 200 is compatible with all other Batimix admixtures incorporated in the same concrete. During batching, all admixtures should be dispensed and added separately to the concrete mix. The performance of various admixtures should be assessed using trial tests as such combinations may alter setting times, air entrainment, and early strength gain.

BATIMIX WR 200 is compatible with all types of Portland cement and replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag.

Dispensing

Automatic dispensing systems should preferably be used to introduce the correct quantity of BATIMIX WR 200 in the concrete mixer. This admixture should not be directly added on the dry cement. It should rather be introduced after incorporating around 2/3 of the mixing water to enhance its effectiveness and improve its dispersing properties.

Technical Support

For proper products usage, Holderchem S.A.L. provides complete technical and laboratory support as well as on-site assistance pertaining to concrete mix design, admixture selection, materials testing, and dispensing equipment.

Storage

BATIMIX WR 200 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 2 to 50 ºC.
