Batimix Water Repellent L-885

Description

BATIMIX Water Repellent L-885 is a siloxane-based compound. It is applied to concrete and mortar surfaces to minimize water penetration and efflorescence. It protects surfaces and reduces cleaning costs.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX Water Repellent L-885 is used to waterproof concrete, mortar, construction rocks, marble, and mosaic substrates.

It creates a network of insoluble water-resistant material within the pores of the matrix. It forms an effective internal barrier, preventing water transmission.

Features

Surfaces treated with BATIMIX Water Repellent L-885 are characterized by the following:

• Minimized water permeability, capillary suction, and moisture transfer
• Reduced potential for efflorescence and probability for rebar corrosion
• Reduced attack of soluble salts and aggressive ions
• Improved mortar durability and better surface quality

Health and Safety

BATIMIX Water Repellent L-885 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.

Application & Dosage Rates

Prior to application, all surfaces should be dry, clean, and free of any contamination and weak material. BATIMIX Water Repellent L-885 is applied in 1 or 2 coats using a brush, roller, or a low-pressure spraying device until the surface is fully saturated.

The material consumption is estimated at about 2 to 12 m² per kg, depending on the porosity and type of the substrate. BATIMIX Water Repellent L-885 dries tack free in about two to four hours at 23 ºC.

Effect of Overdosing

Tests have shown that performance of substrates against water penetration increases almost linearly with increased dosages rates of BATIMIX Water Repellent L-885. However, the effect of overdosing may affect the color of the substrate.

Compatibility

BATIMIX Water Repellent L-885 is compatible with all types of mortars and concrete made Portland cement, replacement materials such as silica fume, and other Holderchem admixtures.

Storage

BATIMIX Water Repellent L-885 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 2 to 50 ºC.
