Holderchem

Silane/siloxane water-based water-repellent

Description

BATIMIX Water Repellent 160 is a silane/siloxane water-based compound. It is applied on concrete and mortar surfaces to minimize water penetration and efflorescence.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX Water Repellent 160 is used to waterproof concrete, mortar, construction rocks, marble, mosaic, and various other substrates. It forms a network of insoluble water-resistant material within the pores of the cement matrix. It creates an effective internal barrier that prevents water transmission. It is used to block capillaries and pores of concrete and masonry. It provides effective water repellency protection of treated materials. It is particularly suitable for waterproofing calcareous building materials and sand-cement mixes. It is also used in the treatment of rising damp found in areas like basements and tunnels.

Features

BATIMIX Water Repellent 160 significantly reduces moisture regain by treated materials. It increases their lifetime, limiting the growth of moss and helping control efflorescence. It reduces sensitivity to freeze-thaw. It cuts down heat losses and cleaning costs. It effectively blocks the passage of water by penetrating the pores of the treated material. It allows the substrate to breathe as it does not affect the permeability to gases. The substrate is protected with one application.

Properties

  • Appearance : transparent liquid
  • Freezing point : 5ºC

Health and Safety

BATIMIX Water Repellent 160 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.

Application & Dosage Rates

All walls made up of materials that are likely to absorb water from the ground can be damp-proofed with BATIMIX Water Repellent 160. A diagnosis having established the fact that this is indeed a problem of capillary rise must be carried out prior to treatment.

The substrate can be either dry or damp but must be firm and free from grout, dust, dirt particles, oil grease and other impurities which can adversely affect uniform adhesion. Highly porous materials should be first treated by a filler bonding putty prior to application.

BATIMIX Water Repellent 160 is applied in 1 or 2 coats using a brush, roller, or a low-pressure spraying device until the surface is fully saturated. The material consumption is estimated at about 2 to 12 m² per kg, depending on the porosity and type of the substrate. BATIMIX Water Repellent 160 dries tack free in about two to four hours at 23 ºC.

Compatibility

BATIMIX Water Repellent 160 is compatible with all types of mortars and concrete made Portland cement, replacement materials such as silica fume, and other BATIMIX admixtures.
