Improved three-component epoxy resin grout with additional characteristics
BATIMIX Tile Grout R-465 is an ultra-high-performance three-component product used for filing up tile joints of all dimensions. The powder component (A) is designed from a blend of fillers and fine-graded silica sand, whereas the liquid resin (B) and liquid hardener (C) components are specifically proportioned to yield outstanding waterproofing, abrasion resistance, and bonding strengths.
Typical applications include the grouting of tile joints of walls and floors in residential and industrial structures likely to be subjected to great impacts, vibrations, and dimensional variations.
It is used whenever waterproofing and high resistance to abrasion and chemical attack by dilute acids, alkali, solvents, or oils are required. It is recommended for the grouting of tiles and stones in inside or outside areas whenever high durability and performance characteristics are sought.
BATIMIX Tile Grout R-465 contains liquid epoxy resin and hardener. May cause eye, skin, and respiratory irritations. Use adequate ventilation. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Wear suitable gloves and goggles. For further information, kindly refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Joints preparation: Before beginning of grouting, ensure that the mortar or adhesive that was used to fix the tiles has hardened. The joints must be dry and thoroughly cleaned, free of dust, and emptied to a depth of at least 2/3 of the tile thickness.
Mixing: Empty entire contents of the B and C-liquid components into a clean container, and then add 90% of the A-powder component while mixing continuously for a minimum of 3 minutes. In case a more viscous consistency is desired, add remaining of the A-powder component. Mixing should be done with an electric mixer at a slow speed to avoid increase of product’s temperature and formation of air bubbles.
Application of the mix: BATIMIX Tile Grout R-465 is applied using a trowel rubber spatula or float, making sure that the joints are completely filled and compacted with no unevenness. While still fresh, remove the excess from the surface by moving the trowel or float diagonally to joints.
Coverage: The coverage (C, kg/m²) of BATIMIX Tile Grout R-465 varies depending on the tile thickness and size as well as on the joint width. The following formula can be used for the coverage calculation:
C = 1.5 h e (L + W)/ (L × W)
L = length of tile (mm) W = width of tile (mm) h = thickness of tile (mm) e = width of joint (mm)
The actual amount of adhesive material required may also vary depending on factors such as the type of tile used, the condition of the underlying surface, and the specific installation technique being used.
Finishing: After being grouted with BATIMIX Tile Grout R-465, floors and walls must be cleaned immediately before the product dries. Use a clean and wet sponge and, if necessary, a hard cellulose sponge. After finishing, it is very important that no epoxy-grout traces are left on the tile surfaces because they will be very difficult to remove.
Three-component BATIMIX Tile Grout R-465 is manufactured to comply with EN 13888 for Tile Grouts of Class RG: Improved Reaction Resin Grout with Additional Characteristics.
BATIMIX Tile Grout R-465 shelf life is one year from the production date if well stored in a closed dry place.
