Improved reaction resin tile adhesive with additional characteristics
BATIMIX Tile Adhesive R-460 is an ultra-high-performance three-component epoxy product. The powder component (A) is designed from a blend of fillers and fine-graded silica sand. The liquid resin (B) and liquid hardener (C) components are specifically proportioned to yield outstanding durability and bonding strength characteristics.
BATIMIX Tile Adhesive R-460 is used to fix large-size natural and reconstructed tiles and stones. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. It yields an ultra-high-performance waterproof tile grout, which is resistant to abrasion, and chemical attack from diluted acids, alkalis, solvents, and oils.
Applications include residential and industrial structures likely to be subjected to great impacts, vibrations, dimensional variations, and deforming problems. Admissible substrates include concrete, cement-based plasters, painted or not, screeds, hollow blocks, and gypsum boards. Tiling over existing tiles, metal, PVC, wood, and various other substrates can also be done, but after testing.
BATIMIX Tile Adhesive R-460 has the following characteristics:
BATIMIX Tile Adhesive R-460 contains liquid epoxy resin and hardener. It may cause eye, skin, and respiratory irritations. Use adequate ventilation. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Wear suitable gloves and goggles. For further information, kindly refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Substrate preparation: The surface of the substrate must be cured, mechanically strong, dry, and thoroughly cleaned from all dust, loose particles, oil, wax, etc.
Mixing: Empty entire contents of the B and C-liquid components into a clean container, and then add 90% of the A-powder component while mixing continuously for a minimum of 3 minutes. In case a more viscous consistency is desired, add remaining of the A-powder component. Mixing should be done with an electric mixer at a slow speed to avoid increase of product’s temperature and formation of air bubbles.
Application of the mix: Do not spread more than 2 m² of BATIMIX Tile Adhesive R-460 at a time. BATIMIX Tile Adhesive R-460 is first applied using any ordinary masonry trowel which should, immediately after, be adjusted to the desired thickness using a toothed trowel. Choose a toothed trowel that will give coverage on the tiles back of at least 80%.
Installing the tiles: All tiles must be dry before installation. For fixing large-size and heavy tiles on vertical surfaces with wide joints, it is advisable to use spacers as they might otherwise sag. Apply a firm pressure to ensure good contact with the adhesive. The open time at 23ºC is around 50 minutes. However, highly absorbent substrate or unfavorable weather conditions (high temperature, drying wind, or strong sun) may shorten this open time quite drastically.
Grouting and protection: Wall joints between applied tiles can be grouted after 12 hours, and floor joints after 24 hours with any appropriate grout similar to BATIMIX Tile Grout series. All tiling made with BATIMIX Tile Adhesive R-460 must not be subject to washout for at least 24 hours.
Three-component BATIMIX Tile Adhesive R-460 is manufactured to comply with EN 12004 for Tile Adhesives of Class R2E: Improved Reaction Resin Adhesive with Additional Characteristics and Extended Open Time.
BATIMIX Tile Adhesive R-460 shelf life is one year from the production date if well stored in a closed dry place.
