Strength enhancer and grinding aid for Portland cement

Description

BATIMIX QS 2114 is an aqueous solution designed from a combination of high grade amines. It is used as a strength enhancer and grinding aid in the manufacture of Portland and other hydraulic cements.

BATIMIX QS 2114 provides all the benefits and advantages of traditional grinding aids such as increased cement fineness and grinding efficiency due to reduced agglomeration of the newly fractured cement particles. Additionally, this proven additive offers a specific ability to improve cement hydration which leads to enhanced strengths at all ages. It is effective in both open circuit and closed circuit cement mills.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX QS 2114 is particularly recommended for the grinding of:

• Portland / blended cement • Masonry / mortar cement

Features

BATIMIX QS 2114 helps achieve the following performances:

• Increased mill output at same cement fineness • Reduced pack-set of cement and increased bulk density, leading to easier storage and transport • Reduced grinding and energy costs • Reduced agglomeration and inter-particle attraction for easier flow characteristics • Increased rate of cement hydration with higher strengths, particularly at late ages • Enhanced grain size distribution for optimised water demand • Reduced clinker factor for optimised cost and CO₂ emissions per tone of cement • Easy and safe handling

Properties

  • Chemical base: amines
  • Appearance: brown liquid
  • Specific gravity: 1.08 ± 0.02 at 23 ºC
  • pH: 7±1 at 23 ºC

Health and Safety

BATIMIX QS 2114 may be irritant to the skin and eyes. If accidentally spilled onto the skin, wash immediately with soap and water. If accidentally splashed into the eyes, flush with plenty of water and consult a physician. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.

Standard Compliance

BATIMIX QS 2114 meets the requirements of ASTM C 465-22 standard specification for processing additions for use in the manufacture of hydraulic cements.

Direction for use

BATIMIX QS 2114 is normally proportioned as received. Depending on the mill and operating conditions, it is recommended that industrial tests be conducted on site to determine the optimal dosage rate. In some cases, the product may be diluted with 10% to 50% water to facilitate greater proportioning accuracy and better additive distribution. Kindly consult your Holderchem representative to determine the appropriate dilution rate.

BATIMIX QS 2114 is introduced into the first or second compartment of the grinding mill to maximize dispersion and product efficiency. It can also be sprinkled onto the dry clinker on the feeding conveyor belt. Suitable dosage pumps with adjustable flow rates are recommended for accurate dosing.

Dosage rates

BATIMIX QS 2114 is used at recommended dosage rates, by weight of cement. Specific dosage depends on exact clinker composition and temperature, percent of clinker factor, type of mill, and desired results and job conditions. For indication purposes, you may refer to the table below:

| Blaine surface area | Dosage rates | | ------------------- | ------------ | | < 3000 cm²/gram | 0.02-0.05 % | | < 4500 cm²/gram | 0.03-0.08 % | | < 6000 cm²/gram | 0.045-0.1 % |

For best results, BATIMIX QS 2114 should be accurately dispensed using a calibrated dosing pump. Please consult your Holderchem representative for recommendation of suitable equipment, installation and dosage procedure.

Storage

BATIMIX QS 2114 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at ambient temperatures ranging from -10 to +50 ºC.
