Mid-range plasticizing admixture for flowing concrete
BATIMIX MWR 602 is a liquid mid-range water-reducing (superplasticizer) admixture for concrete with enhanced slump retention over time. It is essentially based on high-grade naphthalene-sulphonate and carefully selected chemicals.
BATIMIX MWR 602 improves concrete workability. It allows an effective reduction in the free-water content. It works essentially by electrostatic repulsion and adsorption. It effectively disperses the fine cementitious particles in the concrete mix. The result of this powerful deflocculation action allows specified concrete strength grades to be achieved with reduced cement content and/or increased workability.
Applications using BATIMIX MWR 602 include all types of concrete castings such as plain, reinforced, ready-mixed, lightweight, pumped, and shotcrete.
Concrete prepared with BATIMIX MWR 602 is characterized by the following:
In the plastic state:
In the hardened state:
BATIMIX MWR 602 is not considered a hazardous product. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
BATIMIX MWR 602 complies with: • EN 934-2: T11.1/11.2 • ASTM C 494 Types F and G
The optimum dosage level of BATIMIX MWR 602 and its effect on fresh and hardened concrete properties such as slump, slump retention, and early strength gain is best determined by trials. Testing should be done using the actual concrete composition with site materials under conditions that will be experienced in the field.
BATIMIX MWR 602 should be used at dosage rates varying from 0.3% to 2.4% of the cementitious materials.
Overdosing of BATIMIX MWR 602 will result in a significant increase in the slump together with a slight increase in air entrainment as compared to concrete prepared at normal dosage. The effects of overdosing will also lead to retardation in the initial and final setting times. However, provided adequate curing is applied, the ultimate strength will not be impaired by such setting retardation.
BATIMIX MWR 602 is compatible with all other Batimix admixtures incorporated in the same concrete. This product should not be pre-mixed with other admixture as this may alter its performance. During batching, the admixtures should be dispensed and added separately to the concrete mix. The performance of various admixtures should be assessed using trial tests as such combinations may alter setting times, air entrainment, and early strength gain.
BATIMIX MWR 602 is compatible with all types of Portland cement and replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag.
The correct quantity of BATIMIX MWR 602 should preferably be introduced in the concrete mixer using an automatic dispensing system. It should not be directly added on the dry cementitious particles. It should rather be introduced after incorporating around 2/3 of the mixing water. This is essential to enhance effectiveness of BATIMIX MWR 602 and improve its dispersing properties.
