Set-retarding and plasticizing high concentration admixture for mortars and grouts
BATIMIX MR 630 is a synthetically produced liquid set-retarding admixture for mortars and grouts based on modified gluconate organics blended with selected water-reducing polymers. It does not contain any potentially corroding ingredient that could attack steel, aluminum, or zinc embedments.
BATIMIX MR 630 is particularly designed to extend mortar setting times, a feature often necessary for proper mortar application and finishing, particularly in hot climates. Extended setting times are also essential to eliminate cold joints between adjacent mortar layers.
BATIMIX MR 630 is incorporated in mortar-and-grout mixes used for masonry and repair applications such as plastering, rendering, patching, pointing, bricklaying, and screeding.
Mortars prepared with BATIMIX MR 630 are characterized by the following:
In the plastic state:
In the hardened state:
BATIMIX MR 630 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
BATIMIX MR 630 complies with EN 934 Part 3.
The optimum dosage of BATIMIX MR 630 on the rate of setting and hardening should be determined by trials using the actual mortar formulation under conditions that will be experienced on the field. As a guide to such trials, the addition rates shall vary from 0.3% to 1.0% of the cementitious materials.
When designing mortar mixes with BATIMIX MR 630, it is necessary to reduce the free water content to maintain similar W/C and compressive strength.
An overdose of BATIMIX MR 630 will produce a significant workability retention and increase in setting retardation as compared to that normally obtained. However, if the mortar is properly cured, the ultimate strength will not be impaired by such setting retardations.
BATIMIX MR 630 is compatible with all types of Portland cement, replacement materials such as silica fume, and other Holderchem admixtures incorporated in the same mortar. During batching, all admixtures should be added separately to the mortar mix. The performance of various admixtures should be assessed using trial tests as such combinations may alter setting times, air entrainment, and early strength gain.
BATIMIX MR 630 should not be directly added on the dry cement. It should rather be added after incorporating around 2/3 of the mixing water, and in any case prior to introducing other chemicals such as water reducers.
For proper products usage, Holderchem provides technical laboratory support and on-site assistance pertaining to the mortar mix design, admixture selection, and materials testing.
BATIMIX MR 630 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 2 to 50 ºC.
