Batimix Mortar W-862

Description

BATIMIX Mortar W-862 is a cementitious non-shrink waterproof grout for filling large voids and joints greater than 20mm.

It is made from Portland cement, carefully-graded natural and crushed sand, and a combination of selected additives to enhance workability, adhesion, and waterproofing. It is durable, resistant to frost and heat after setting.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX Mortar W-862 is used to fill large holes and voids. It is suitable for both interior and exterior applications. This product allows for obtaining consistent properties of the fresh and hardened mortar.

It is primarily used to grout structures such as supports beneath load-bearing units, column-based plates, anchors, dowels, and beams.

Health and Safety

BATIMIX Mortar W-862 contains cement that is irritating to the eyes and skin. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Wear suitable gloves. For further information, kindly refer to the product's Material Safety Data Sheet.

Directions for Use

1 – Substrate preparation For optimum bonding and performance, sandblast the concrete surfaces and then remove all dust and debris by air blasting, low pressure water blasting, or brooming. Faulty concrete in the form of cracks, honeycombing, etc. must be chased out.

Prior to application, the substrate should be saturated but free of standing water (SSD condition).

2 – Product preparation A 25-kg bag of BATIMIX Mortar W-862 should be mixed with 5 to 6.5 liters of clean water. The mixing should be done with a medium-speed mechanical mixer for a minimum of 3 minutes until obtaining a consistent homogenous material.

Mix only as much material as can be used within 30 minutes and stir mixture frequently. If the mixture starts to set, do not add water, but restir to restore workability.

3 – Application Right after the end of mixing, apply the BATIMIX Mortar W-862 onto the substrate in one coat according to the specification. When two coats are specified, apply the second coat while the first one is still “green”.

Note – Do not apply BATIMIX Mortar W-862 to frozen substrate or when the ambient temperature is below + 5ºC.

4 – Consumption The average consumption rates of BATIMIX Mortar W-862 vary from 18 to 22 kg/m²/10 mm thickness, depending on the type and porosity of the substrate.

5 – Curing The treated areas with BATIMIX Mortar W-862 should be kept wet for a period of 5 days and must be protected against sun, wind, and frost by covering with polythene sheeting, damp hessian, or similar.

Storage

BATIMIX Mortar W-862 should be stored in a closed and dry place. Avoid freezing and excessive temperatures. Unopened bags have a shelf life of six months when stored as recommended.
