Batimix Mortar W-830 E

Holderchem

Two-component, waterproofing slurry with elastic properties

Description

BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E is a two-component polymer-modified surface water-proofer with hydrophobic and elastic properties.

BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E is applied to concrete, masonry, and rendering surfaces, which have to be sealed and protected from water and moisture. Owing to its elastic properties, it can be applied in areas exposed to cracking and deforming.

Main Purpose

Batimix Mortar W-830 E is designed as a two-component flexible waterproofing and repairing mortar for use on vertical and horizontal concrete and masonry surfaces in various applications such as basement retaining walls, channels, bridges, construction joints, swimming pools, water retaining structures, and concrete slabs such as roofs and balconies. BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E is not recommended for drinking water reservoirs.

Features

BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E has the following characteristics:

  • Ready-to-use, ensuring consistent properties of the fresh and hardened product
  • Can be applied to all structurally sound pressure or non-pressure concrete faces – new or old
  • High degree of adhesion/bond to the substrate\
  • Extremely-low water absorption, yet increased water vapor transmission
  • Improved sulfate resistance and overall durability

Health and Safety

BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E contains cement that is irritating to the eyes and skin and acrylic polymers. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Wear suitable gloves. For further information, kindly refer to the product's Material Safety Data Sheet.

Directions for Use

1 – Substrate preparation All concrete to be treated with BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E must have an “open” capillary system.

For optimum bonding and performance, sandblast the concrete surfaces and then remove all dust and debris by air blasting, low pressure water blasting, or brooming. Faulty concrete in the form of cracks, honeycombing, etc. must be chased out and filled flush with BATIMIX Mortar W-860.

Prior to application, the substrate should be saturated but free of standing water (SSD condition).

2 – Product preparation Place the 10-liters liquid component of the BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E in a clean container, then add the 25-kg powder component slowly while mixing. The mixing should be done with a medium-speed mechanical mixer for a minimum of 3 minutes until obtaining a consistent homogenous material.

Where site conditions require, add up to 1 liter of clean water to the liquid component and mix well with the 25-kg powder bag. Mix only as much material as can be used within 20 minutes.

3 – Application Apply BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E in one or two coats according to specification by masonry brush or appropriate power spray equipment. When two coats are specified, apply the second coat while the first one is still “green”. The maximum thickness of each coat should not exceed 2 mm.

Note – Do not apply BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E when the ambient temperature is below + 5 ºC.

4 – Consumption Ground moisture – BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E should be applied at a minimum thickness of 1.5 mm (max. of 5 mm) at approximately 3 kg/m².

Commonly surfaces subjected to high humidity levels (pressure-less) – BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E should be applied at a minimum thickness of 2 mm (max. of 5 mm) at approximately 4 kg/m².

Surfaces subjected to water under pressure – BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E should be applied at a minimum thickness of 3 mm (max. of 5 mm) at approximately 6 kg/m².

5 – Curing The treated areas with BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E should be protected against extreme weather conditions while setting is taking place.

Storage

BATIMIX Mortar W-830 E should be stored in a closed and dry place. Avoid freezing and excessive temperatures. Unopened bags have a shelf life of six months when stored as recommended.
