In-depth waterproofing and protection mortar
BATIMIX Mortar W-810 is a versatile surface-applied cementitious material, which waterproofs and protects concrete in-depth. It is made from Portland cement, carefully-graded sand, and a combination of selected waterproofing additives.
BATIMIX Mortar W-810 is generally used in conjunction with BATIMIX Mortar W-800 for general waterproofing purposes and on its own to treat surfaces requiring additional protection against mechanical abrasion. This slurry product is particularly suitable for filling voids and air bubbles in weak and porous substrates.
BATIMIX Mortar W-810 is vapor permeable and typically can be positioned anywhere in the wall assembly for great design flexibility. It can thus be applied against active and passive water pressure surfaces.
Batimix Mortar W-810 is a flexible waterproofing and repairing mortar used on vertical and horizontal concrete and masonry surfaces in various applications such as basement retaining walls, channels, bridges, construction joints, swimming pools, water retaining structures, and concrete slabs such as roofs and balconies.
BATIMIX Mortar W 810 has the following characteristics:
BATIMIX Mortar W-810 contains cement that is irritating to the eyes and skin. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Wear suitable gloves. For further information, kindly refer to the product's Material Safety Data Sheet.
1 – Substrate preparation All concrete to be treated with BATIMIX Mortar W-810 must have an “open” capillary system.
For optimum bonding and performance, sandblast the concrete surfaces and then remove all dust and debris by air blasting, low pressure water blasting, or brooming. Faulty concrete in the form of cracks, honeycombing, etc. must be chased out and filled flush with BATIMIX Mortar W-860.
Prior to application, the substrate should be saturated but free of standing water (SSD condition).
2 – Product preparation A 25-kg bag of BATIMIX Mortar W-810 should be mixed with 7 to 9 liters of clean water, depending on the desired consistency. The mixing should be done with a medium-speed mechanical mixer for a minimum of 3 minutes until obtaining a consistent homogenous material.
Mix only as much material as can be used within 20 minutes and stir mixture frequently. If the mixture starts to set, do not add water, but restir to restore workability.
3 – Application Apply BATIMIX Mortar W-810 in one or two coats according to specification by masonry brush or appropriate power spray equipment. When two coats are specified, apply the second coat while the first one is still “green”.
Note – Do not apply BATIMIX Mortar W-810 when the ambient temperature is below + 5 ºC.
4 – Consumption Concrete surfaces to be backfilled: when used over BATIMIX Mortar W-800, the BATIMIX Mortar W-810 can be applied in one or two coats at 1 kg/m² each.
Water retaining structures, internal concrete wall surfaces: two coats of BATIMIX Mortar W-810 at 0.75 to 1 kg/m², spray or brush applied.
Concrete slabs: at a rate of 1.3 kg/m², BATIMIX Mortar W-810 may be applied as slurry to the hardened concrete.
Blinding concrete: BATIMIX Mortar W-810 should be applied at a rate of 1.5 kg/m² in slurry immediately prior to placing the overlaying concrete slab.
5 – Curing The treated areas with BATIMIX Mortar W-810 should be kept wet for a period of 5 days and must be protected against sun, wind, and frost by covering with polythene sheeting, damp hessian, or similar.
BATIMIX Mortar W-810 should be stored in a closed and dry place. Avoid freezing and excessive temperatures. Unopened bags have a shelf life of six months when stored as recommended.
