Accelerated setting mortar for repair - Grade R2
BATIMIX Mortar 641 is a pre-packaged fast-setting structural repair material. It is made from Portland cement, carefully-graded sand, and selected additives such as set-accelerating, plasticizing, and shrinkage-compensating.
BATIMIX Mortar 641 is used for partial and full-depth repair works of concrete structures, which have to be ready-for-use within short periods of time. Typical applications include parking lots, ramps, garages, bridge-decks, commercial floors, and warehouses.
BATIMIX Mortar 641 contains cement. It is irritating to eyes and skin. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Wear suitable gloves. For further information, kindly refer to Material Safety Data Sheet.
Substrate preparation: BATIMIX Mortar 641 must be applied on sound and thoroughly cleaned substrates free of oil, dust, loose particles, and paints. The traces of mould joints must be leveled. All surfaces should be saturated with water (SSD condition) prior to application.
Product preparation: A 25-kg bag of BATIMIX Mortar 641 should be mixed with 3.5 to 4.25 liters of clean water. The mixing should be done with a medium-speed mechanical mixer until a consistent homogenous material is obtained. The mixing time should not exceed 2 minutes, as the mortar may loose its workability very rapidly.
Application: Because of its fast setting characteristics, BATIMIX Mortar 641 can be placed under all temperature conditions. However, in warm weather, cold water can be used to cool mortar temperature. The product should be discharged from the mixer and placed immediately without any delay. Pumping is to be avoided because of the fast setting characteristics.
BATIMIX Mortar 641 must be thoroughly worked in the forms so that they are entirely filled and the reinforcing bars adequately surrounded. The average consumption rates vary from 14 to 18 kg / m² / cm, depending on the method of application and type of substrate. All placement and finishing operations should be completed within 10 minutes at 23 ºC from the time of contact of the powder mortar with water.
Protection and curing: Freshly deposited BATIMIX Mortar 641 must be protected from excessively hot or cold temperatures and maintained with minimum moisture loss. Curing should begin immediately after the finishing operations for a minimum of 3 days using absorptive mats, which must be kept continuously wet. Alternately, appropriate sheet materials or curing compounds conforming to ASTM C 171 / C 309 can also be used. Curing compounds can be purchased separately from Holderchem.
BATIMIX Mortar 641 is manufactured to conform to all current requirements of ASTM C 928 Grade R2 for Standard specification for packaged, dry, rapid-hardening cementitious materials for concrete repairs.
BATIMIX Mortar 641 shelf life is six months from the production date, if well stored in a closed dry place. Avoid freezing and excessive temperatures.
