Ultra high-performance cementitious-based non-shrink grout
BATIMIX Mortar 605 is a ready-to-use ultra high performance cementitious-based non-shrink grout. It is designed from Type I Portland cement, carefully graded sand and selected additives for improved workability, early and late compressive/flexural strengths, as well as adhesion against substrates.
BATIMIX Mortar 605 is particularly designed for use where filling of narrow holes, small joints, and gaps of various sizes are critical. It is used for interior and exterior elements. The properties of applied mortars, whether in the fresh or hardened state, are consistently the same.
Main applications include grouting a variety of structures such as supports beneath load-bearing units, column based plates, lightweight panels, anchors, dowels, and beams.
Batimix Mortar 605 is characterised by the following:
BATIMIX Mortar 605 contains cement that is irritating to the eyes and skin. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Wear suitable gloves. For further information, kindly refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet.
Substrate preparation: BATIMIX Mortar 605 must be applied on sound and thoroughly cleaned substrates free of oil, dust, loose particles, and paints. The traces of mould joints must be levelled.
For a period of minimum 2 hours prior to beginning of application, all cleaned surfaces should be flooded with fresh water. Afterwards, immediately before grouting, care should be taken to remove all standing water, thus making the substrate having a surface-saturated-dry (SSD) condition.
Product preparation: For better results, mixing of Batimix Mortar 605 with water should be done mechanically. Depending on the desired consistency, a 25-kg bag of this product should be mixed with 3.75 to 4.25 litres of clean water for a minimum of 4 minutes. This will ensure that the mix has a homogenous texture and smooth consistency. Do not add sand or other chemical admixtures so as not to alter product characteristics.
Application: BATIMIX Mortar 605 may be applied by various methods including manually with a plastering trowel or using a hopper or spraying device. The average yielding rates vary from 12 to 13.5 litres per bag of 25 kg, depending on the amount of water used for mixing.
For horizontal or vertical surfaces exceeding 1 m2, this product is normally applied at thicknesses not exceeding 15 mm. In case higher thicknesses are required, it is recommended that the subsequent layers be applied after at least 24 hours from the first application. Care should be taken to roughen the previous layer slightly while still damp in order to provide maximum adhesion between various layers.
During application, any machinery adjacent to the grouting operations which might cause vibration must be shut down until the grout has reached final setting. Continuous grout flow is essential. Sufficient grout must be prepared before starting. The time taken to pour a batch must be regulated to the time to prepare the next one.
Protection and curing: The temperature during application should be between 5 and 40 °C. When finishing, the exposed grout areas should be protected from extreme temperatures, wind, and sunshine. Moist curing is essential for a minimum of 3 days using water and/or wet hessian.
BATIMIX Mortar 605 exceeds all requirements of ASTM C 1107 Grade C for Standard specification for packaged dry, hydraulic-cement grout (non-shrink).
BATIMIX Mortar 605 shelf life is six months from the production date if well stored in a closed dry place. Avoid freezing and excessive temperatures.
