Holderchem

Two-component cementitious-based non-shrink mortar

Description

BATIMIX Mortar 603 is a ready-to-use two-component cementitious-based grout used for filling all type of joints, holes, and cracks. It is designed from Type I Portland cement, carefully graded quartz sand, and selected additives together with a liquid acrylic component for improving flexibility and adhesion against substrates.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX Mortar 603 is particularly designed for use where filling of holes, gaps, and joints is critical to compensate slight movements while maintaining proper bonding properties. It is used for interior and exterior elements. The properties of applied mortars, whether in the fresh or hardened state, are consistently the same.

Main applications include grouting a variety of structures such as supports beneath load-bearing units, column based plates, lightweight panels, anchors, dowels, and beams.

Features

Batimix Mortar 603 is characterised by the following:

  • Spread and cling easily on cementitious-based substrates
  • Non-staining, offering similar appearance to parent concrete and mortar surfaces
  • Good strength and flexural characteristics
  • Excellent adhesion properties to ensure monolithic bond between adjacent elements
  • Positive expansion, thus eliminating all types shrinkage problems and surface cracks
  • Enhanced durability of the finished product

Directions for Use

Substrate preparation: BATIMIX Mortar 603 must be applied on sound and thoroughly cleaned substrates free of oil, dust, loose particles, and paints. The traces of mould joints must be levelled.

Product preparation: The BATIMIX Mortar 603 is supplied ready-to-use. The A-powder component of 25 kg should be mixed mechanically with the B-liquid component of 4 litres until a homogenous mix is obtained. In certain circumstances, it is possible to add up to 0.25 litres of clean water to adjust the mixture consistency. Do not add sand or other cement admixtures so as not to alter product characteristics. Mix enough quantity needed for the particular application.

Application: BATIMIX Mortar 603 may be applied by various methods such as manually using a plastering trowel, spraying, or by injection using appropriate devices. The average consumption rates vary from 12 to 16 kg / m2 / cm, depending on the method of application and type of substrate. During application, any machinery adjacent to the grouting operations which might cause vibration must be shut down until the mortar has reached final setting.

Protection and curing: The temperature during application should be between 5 and 40 °C. When finishing, the mortar should be protected from extreme temperatures, wind, and sunshine by moist curing for a minimum of 3 days.

Compliance with Standards

BATIMIX Mortar 603 is manufactured to conform to all requirements of ASTM C 1107 Grade C for Standard specification for packaged dry, hydraulic-cement grout (non-shrink).

Storage

BATIMIX Mortar 603 shelf life is six months from the production date if well stored in a closed dry place. Avoid freezing and excessive temperatures.
