Non-shrink mortar for filling joints larger than 10 mm
BATIMIX Mortar 602 is a ready-to-use cementitious-based non-shrink grout used for filling joints larger than 10 mm. It is made from cement, graded sand, and selected additives, which improve positive expansion, workability, water repellency, and adhesion to substrates.
BATIMIX Mortar 602 is primarily used to fill holes and joints larger than 10 mm in diameter. It is used for interior and exterior applications. The properties of applied mortars, whether in the fresh or hardened state, are consistently the same.
Main applications include the grouting of a variety of load-bearing units, column-based plates, anchors, dowels, and beams.
Batimix Mortar 602 is characterized by the following:
BATIMIX Mortar 602 contains cement that is irritating to the eyes and skin. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Wear suitable gloves. For further information, kindly refer to Material Safety Data Sheet.
Substrate preparation: BATIMIX Mortar 602 must be applied on sound and thoroughly cleaned substrates free of oil, dust, loose particles, and paints. The traces of mould joints must be leveled. All surfaces should be saturated with water (SSD condition) prior to application.
Product preparation: Depending on the desired consistency, a 25-kg bag of BATIMIX Mortar 602 is mixed manually or mechanically with 3.5 to 4.25 liters of clean water until a homogenous mix is obtained. Do not add sand or other cement admixtures so as not to alter product characteristics.
Application: BATIMIX Mortar 602 may be applied by various methods such as manually with a plastering trowel or by spraying. The average consumption rates vary from 14 to 18 kg / m² / cm, depending on the method of application and type of substrate. During application, any machinery adjacent to the grouting operations which might cause vibration must be shut down until the mortar has reached final setting.
Protection and curing: The temperature during application should be between 5 and 40 °C. When finishing, the mortar should be protected from extreme temperatures, wind, and sunshine by moist curing for a minimum of 3 days.
BATIMIX Mortar 602 is manufactured to conform to all current requirements of ASTM C 1107 Grade C for Standard specification for packaged dry, hydraulic-cement grout (non-shrink).
BATIMIX Mortar 602 shelf life is six months from the production date if well stored in a closed dry place. Avoid freezing and excessive temperatures.
