Holderchem

Non-shrink mortar for filling joints ranging from 4 to 10 mm

Description

Pre-packaged BATIMIX Mortar 601 is a ready-to-use cementitious-based non-shrink grout for filling joints smaller than 10 mm. It is made from cement, graded sand, and additives, which improve positive expansion, workability, water repellency, and adhesion to substrates.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX Mortar 601 is primarily used to fill holes and joints less than 10 mm in diameter. It is used for interior and exterior applications. The properties of applied mortars, whether in the fresh or hardened state, are consistently the same.

Main applications include the grouting of a variety of load-bearing units, column-based plates, anchors, dowels, and beams.

Features

Batimix Mortar 601 is characterized by the following:

  • Spreads and clings easily to cementitious-based substrates
  • Strong adhesion to substrates
  • Non-staining, it offers a similar appearance to parent concrete and mortar surfaces
  • High strength and flexural characteristic
  • Positive expansion eliminates all types of shrinkage problems and surface cracks
  • Reduced level of water-penetration from the presence of a water-repellent agent
  • Enhanced durability of the finished product

Directions for Use

Substrate preparation: BATIMIX Mortar 601 must be applied on sound and thoroughly cleaned substrates free of oil, dust, loose particles, and paints. The traces of mould joints must be leveled. All surfaces should be saturated with water (SSD condition) prior to application.

Product preparation: Depending on the desired consistency, a 25-kg bag of BATIMIX Mortar 601 is mixed manually or mechanically with 3.5 to 4.25 liters of clean water until a homogenous mix is obtained. Do not add sand or other cement admixtures so as not to alter product characteristics.

Application: BATIMIX Mortar 601 may be applied by various methods such as manually with a plastering trowel or by spraying. The average consumption rates vary from 14 to 18 kg / m² / cm, depending on the method of application and type of substrate. During application, any machinery adjacent to the grouting operations which might cause vibration must be shut down until the grout has reached final setting.

Protection and curing: The temperature during application should be between 5 and 40 °C. When finishing, the grout should be protected from extreme temperatures, wind, and sunshine by moist curing for a minimum of 3 days.

Specifications / Compliance with Standards

BATIMIX Mortar 601 is manufactured to conform to all current requirements of ASTM C 1107 Grade C for Standard specification for packaged dry, hydraulic-cement grout (non-shrink).

Storage

BATIMIX Mortar 601 shelf life is six months from the production date if well stored in a closed dry place. Avoid freezing and excessive temperatures.
