Batimix MAC 760

Holderchem

Chloride-free, set-accelerating and water reducing admixture

Description

BATIMIX MAC 760 is a multi-purpose admixture. It accelerates the setting times of mortars and grouts. It is made from high-grade set-accelerating chemicals blended with selected polymers. It reduces the free water content in concrete mixes. This product does not contain calcium chloride or added chloride ions that could attack steel, aluminum, or zinc embedments.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX MAC 760 reduces initial and final setting times of mortars. It is particularly effective in cold temperatures. This product is used in all kinds of mortars and grouts for masonry and repair work such as plastering, rendering, patching, pointing, bricklaying, and screeding.

Features

Mortars prepared with BATIMIX MAC 760 are characterized by the following:

In the plastic state:

  • Reduced initial and final setting times
  • Minimized bleeding and segregation
  • Improved workability while maintaining similar water dosages
  • Densified and cohesive skeleton
  • Decreased over time, allowing same-day finishing

In the hardened state:

  • Reduced construction costs – no cold weather delays
  • Increased early compressive and flexural strengths

Properties

  • Appearance : brown liquid
  • Specific gravity: around 1.17 at 23 ºC
  • Chloride content : nil
  • Alkali content : typically less than 1.5% as Na₂O

Health and Safety

BATIMIX MAC 760 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.

Compliance with Standards

BATIMIX MAC 760 complies with EN 934 Part 3.

Dosage Rates

The optimum dosage of BATIMIX MAC 760 to meet specific requirements is best determined by trials using the actual mix composition with site materials under conditions that will be experienced in use. As a guide to the trial tests, the addition rates shall vary from 1% to 4% of the cementitious materials. Dosages outside the specified range may be used if necessary to meet particular mix requirements.

When designing mortar mixes with BATIMIX MAC 760, it is necessary to reduce the free water content to maintain similar W/C and compressive strength.

Effect of Overdosing

In general, an overdose of BATIMIX MAC 760 will produce a highly cohesive material with significant loss in workability and increased early strength as compared to that normally obtained. The rapid initial acceleration of the cement hydration process will generally lead to slightly reduced 28-day compressive strength.

Compatibility

BATIMIX MAC 760 is compatible with all types of Portland cement, replacement materials such as silica fume, and other BATIMIX admixtures incorporated in the same mortar. During batching, all admixtures should be added separately to the mortar mix. The performance of various admixtures should be assessed using trial tests as such combinations may alter setting times, air entrainment, and early strength gain.

Dispensing

BATIMIX MAC 760 should not be directly added on the dry cement. It should rather be added after incorporating around 2/3 of the mixing water, and in any case prior to introducing other chemicals such as water-reducers.

Technical Support

Holderchem provides, upon request, technical advisory services for mix design, admixture selection, and evaluation trials.
