
Waterproofing strip for static joints
BATIMIX Joint Tape 550 is an alkali-resistant and flexible fabric. It provides a permanent waterproof seal over static joints and cracks on either the positive or negative side of a substrate, where water is a problem. It is characterized by an easy to peel siliconized release liner.
BATIMIX Joint tape 550 strongly adheres to materials such as concrete, plasterboards, and ceramic. It generally adheres well to smooth-surface materials. It is a self-adhesive sealing tape or pad consisting of a butyl-rubber adhesive compound protected by a Polypropylene Fleece. The non-Woven Fleece allows the tape to seal and conform over the joint. It is compatible with common glues, cement, and non-cement based adhesives. It is highly adhesive even at low temperatures, to all materials and especially to plastic, glass, steel, polycarbonate, and wood. It is ideal for use underwood and ceramic coverings.
BATIMIX Joint tape 550 is compatible with most bitumen products supplied on the market. It must be protected from UV rays. It is available in tape or pad with various sizes for multipurpose applications.
Batimix Joint Tape 550 is resistant to hydrostatic pressure. It is applied to green-concrete, structural slabs, swimming pools, foundations, basements, tunnels, dams, water reservoirs, sewage, culverts, spillways, and water treatment plants. It seals joints between floor-slabs and walls, whether made of brick, breezeblock, plaster, or plasterboard. It is also used for sealing and joining most other common building materials. It is easy to use in small and reduced spaces.

BATIMIX Joint tape 550 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
The sealing tape or pad must be applied to a clean, dry, smooth and dust-free surface. For an application between 0 °C and 5 °C, ensure that frost or condensation are absent on the surface. In case of porous supports, it is advisable to stabilize the surface. No special tools are required to install BATIMIX Joint tape 550.
Start removing the release liner that covers the adhesive part and position the sealing tape or pad. Carry out a roll pressing to avoid entrapment of air bubbles.
When connecting two tapes or pads, use an overlap of at least 5 cm. Press with a roller or a cloth pad. Protect the material from UV-rays within a few weeks of installation.

The quality and the characteristics of the materials remain unaltered for a long period of time. However, it is recommended to use the product within 12 months from production date.
The product must be stored in the original and unopened packaging in a dry and well ventilated place at a temperature between + 5 °C and + 40 °C. Storage above 50 °C may lead to difficulties in removing the release liner when applying.
The product is not affected by frost.
