Liquid, integral water-repellent for concrete
BATIMIX IWR 410 is a liquid integral water-repellent admixture used in all types of concrete mixes to reduce absorptivity and water penetration from the surrounding environment. It is formulated from carefully selected inorganic stearate raw materials imparting water-repelling properties. Upon request, this product can be supplied in powder form.
BATIMIX IWR 410 significantly decreases the water-permeability of concrete without altering its fresh and hardened properties. It forms a network of insoluble water-resistant material within the pores of the cement matrix. This yields an effective internal barrier preventing water transmission.
Applications using BATIMIX IWR 410 include all types of plain and reinforced concrete castings such as precast, ready-mixed, lightweight, pumped, and shotcrete.
Concrete prepared with BATIMIX IWR 410 is characterized by the following:
In the plastic state:
In the hardened state:
BATIMIX IWR 410 is not considered a hazardous product. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
BATIMIX IWR 410 complies with EN 934-2 : T9.
The performance of BATIMIX IWR 410 is best assessed after preliminary tests using the actual concrete mix design with site materials under conditions that will be experienced in site. The product is found to be effective over a wide range of concrete formulations. Typically, dosages varying from 0.2% to 1% of the cement weight are recommended.
It is to be noted that the free water content should be reduced when designing concrete mixes with BATIMIX IWR 410 to maintain similar W/C.
Tests have shown that overdosed concrete mixtures with BATIMIX IWR 410 will result in decreased slump as well as slump retention over time. The 28-day compressive strength will not be affected significantly.
BATIMIX IWR 410 is compatible with all other Batimix admixtures incorporated in the same concrete. It should not be pre-mixed with other admixture as this may alter its performance. During batching, the admixtures should be added separately to the concrete mix. The performance of various admixtures on the fresh and hardened concrete properties should be assessed using trial tests.
BATIMIX IWR 410 is compatible with all types of Portland cement and replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag.
Accurate and reliable automatic dispensing systems should be used to introduce the correct quantity of BATIMIX IWR 410 in the concrete mixer to avoid variations in dosage. This product should not be directly added on the dry cementitious particles. It should rather be introduced after incorporating all of the mixing water and other chemical admixtures.
Holderchem provides, upon request, complete technical support and on-site assistance to enable correct and effective use of its products.
BATIMIX IWR 410 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 2 to 50 ºC.
