Liquid, superplasticiser for shotcrete – Wet process application
BATIMIX HWR WG7-L is a liquid high-range water-reducing (superplasticizer) admixture for shotcrete. It is based on high-grade naphthalene-sulfonate materials, which are blended with selected chemicals to accelerate concrete setting. It does not contain calcium chloride or other potentially corrosive ingredients.
BATIMIX HWR WG7-L is designed to significantly improve the workability of shotcrete and/or to allow a reduction in the free water content. It functions by electrostatic repulsion, which results in a powerful dispersion of the fine cementitious particles in the concrete mix. The deflocculation allows specified strength grades to be achieved at reduced cement content and/or increased workability.
Shotcrete prepared with BATIMIX HWR WG7-L is characterized by the following:
In the plastic state:
In the hardened state:
BATIMIX HWR WG7-L is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
BATIMIX HWR WG7-L complies with ASTM C 1141 requirements for Type II (wet mix shotcrete), Grade 7, Class A (liquid).
The optimum dosage of BATIMIX HWR WG7-L and its effect on the fresh and hardened shotcrete properties such as slump, setting acceleration, and early strength gain should always be determined by trials. Testing should be done using the actual shotcrete composition and under the conditions that will be experienced on the field. For indication purposes, BATIMIX HWR WG7-L should be used at dosage rates varying from 0.5% to 2.4% of the cementitious materials.
Overdose of BATIMIX HWR WG7-L will result in a significant increase in the slump together with a slight increase in air entrainment as compared to shotcrete prepared at normal dosage. In certain circumstances, a remarkable loss in the slump consistency may be noticed.
BATIMIX HWR WG7-L is compatible with all other Batimix admixtures incorporated in the same shotcrete. During batching, all admixtures should be dispensed and added separately to the shotcrete mix. It is always recommended to assess the performance of added admixtures on the fresh and hardened shotcrete properties using trial tests. BATIMIX HWR WG7-L is compatible with all types of Portland cement and replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag.
Accurate and reliable automatic dispensing systems should be used to introduce the correct quantity of BATIMIX HWR WG7-L in the shotcrete mixer; the dosage should be reproducible with very little variation. This product should not be directly added on the dry cementitious particles; it should rather be introduced after incorporating around 2/3 of the mixing water to enhance its effectiveness and dispersing properties.
Holderchem provides, upon request, complete technical support and on-site assistance to enable correct and effective use of its products.
BATIMIX HWR WG7-L has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 2 to 50 ºC.
