High grade superplasticizer for concrete with set acceleration
BATIMIX HWR 1100-A is a liquid high-range water-reducing (superplasticizer) admixture with enhanced properties for concrete. It is based on high-grade naphthalene-sulfonate materials blended with selected chemicals to accelerate setting. It does not contain calcium chloride or other potentially corrosive ingredients.
BATIMIX HWR 1100-A is designed to improve concrete workability and/or allow an effective reduction in the free water content. This product is a highly powerful dispersant, which functions by electrostatic repulsion, breaking-up agglomerates in the concrete mix. It allows for specified concrete strength grades to be achieved, with significantly reduced cement content and/or increased workability. It is particularly used in cold climates to decrease concrete setting times. It allows for the speeding-up of finishing operations and removal of formworks.
Applications using BATIMIX HWR 1100-A include all types of concrete castings, such as plain, reinforced, precast, ready-mixed, lightweight, pumped, and shotcrete.
Concrete prepared with BATIMIX HWR 1100-A is characterized by the following:
In the plastic state: • Higher flowability without adding extra water • Reduced water content, up to 40%, with minimum secondary effects • Enhanced homogeneity, cohesion, and ability to pump the concrete mix • Accelerated setting, especially suitable for use in cold climates
In the hardened state: • Increased strengths - compressive, flexural, and bonding • Reduced shrinkage, creep, water permeability, and cracking • Enhanced durability and better surface appearance of the concrete
BATIMIX HWR 1100-A is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
The optimum dosage of BATIMIX HWR 1100-A and its effect on the fresh and hardened concrete properties such as slump, slump retention, setting acceleration, and early strength gain should always be determined by trials. Testing should be done using the actual concrete composition and under the conditions that will be experienced on the field. For indication purposes, BATIMIX HWR 1100-A should be used at dosage rates varying from 0.5% to 2.4% of the cementitious materials.
BATIMIX HWR 1100-A exceeds ASTM C 494 Type E and EN 934-2 : T12 requirements in terms of water reduction and/or slump improvement.
Overdose of BATIMIX HWR 1100-A will result in a significant increase in the slump together with a slight increase in air entrainment as compared to concrete prepared at normal dosage. In certain circumstances, a remarkable loss in the slump consistency may be noticed.
BATIMIX HWR 1100-A is compatible with all other Batimix admixtures incorporated in the same concrete. During batching, all admixtures should be dispensed and added separately to the concrete mix. It is always recommended to assess the performance of added admixtures on the fresh and hardened concrete properties using trial tests.
BATIMIX HWR 1100-A is compatible with all types of Portland cement and replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag.
Accurate and reliable automatic dispensing systems should be used to introduce the correct quantity of BATIMIX HWR 1100-A in the concrete mixer; the dosage should be reproducible with very little variation. This product should not be directly added on the dry cementitious particles; it should rather be introduced after incorporating around 2/3 of the mixing water to enhance its effectiveness and dispersing properties.
Holderchem provides, upon request, complete technical support and on-site assistance to enable correct and effective use of its products.
BATIMIX HWR 1100-A has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 2 to 50 ºC.
