High grade superplasticizer for flowing concrete

Description

BATIMIX HWR 1100-M is a liquid high-range water-reducing (superplasticizer) admixture with enhanced properties for high-performance concrete. It is based on refined naphthalene-sulphonate and carefully selected chemical materials.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX HWR 1100-M is designed to significantly enhance concrete workability and/or facilitate an effective reduction in free water content. This product is a highly potent dispersant that primarily operates through electrostatic repulsion, breaking up aggregates within the concrete mixture. This enables the attainment of specified concrete strength grades with a substantial reduction in cement content and/or improved workability.

Applications using BATIMIX HWR 1100-M encompass all kinds of concrete casting, including plain, reinforced, precast, ready-mixed, lightweight, pumped, and shotcrete.

Features

Concrete prepared with BATIMIX HWR 1100-M exhibits the following characteristics:

In the plastic state:

  • Improved workability without the need for additional water.
  • Reduced water content by up to 40% with minimal adverse effects.
  • Enhanced uniformity, cohesion, and the ability to pump the concrete mix.
  • Normal setting properties even in cold conditions.

In the hardened state:

  • Increased mechanical strength, including compressive, flexural, and bonding strength.
  • Reduced shrinkage, creep, and water permeability.
  • Enhanced durability and surface appearance of the concrete.

Properties

  • Appearance: brown liquid
  • Specific gravity: 1.2 ± 0.02 at 23 ºC
  • Chloride content: nil
  • Alkali content : typically less than 3% as Na₂O
  • Air entrainment: less than 1.5% increase at normal dosages

Health and Safety

BATIMIX HWR 1100-M is considered a non-hazardous product; nevertheless, precautions should be taken to prevent ingestion or skin and eye contact. We recommend wearing appropriate gloves and goggles when handling this product. For further details, please consult the product's Material Safety Data Sheet.

Standard Compliance

BATIMIX HWR 1100-M complies with:

  • EN 934-2 : T3.1/3.2
  • ASTM C 494 Types F and G
  • ASTM C 1017 Type II

Dosage Rates

The most effective application of BATIMIX HWR 1100-M to enhance fresh and hardened concrete attributes, such as slump, slump retention, and early strength gain, should ideally be determined through practical trials. These trials should involve testing the product using the chosen concrete mix design and on-site materials under real field conditions.

For achieving the standard superplasticizing effect, BATIMIX HWR 1100-M is typically applied at dosage rates ranging from 0.4% to 3.8% of the cementitious materials.

Effect of Overdosing

When BATIMIX HWR 1100-M is overdosed in concrete mixtures, distinct indications of bleeding and separation become apparent, especially when the water-cement (W/C) ratio exceeds 0.45. This will be accompanied by a notable surge in slump. However, the consequences of overuse will result in only a modest rise in air entrainment and a delay in setting times, compared to concrete prepared with the standard dosage. With proper curing procedures in place, the ultimate strength of the concrete will not be compromised by this delay in setting.

Compatibility

BATIMIX HWR 1100-M is compatible with all other Batimix admixtures when used in the same concrete mixture. It is important not to pre-mix BATIMIX HWR 1100-M with other admixtures, as this could potentially impact its performance. During the batching process, it is advisable to dispense and add each admixture separately to the concrete mix. To evaluate the effects of different admixtures on fresh and hardened concrete properties, including setting times and air entrainment, conducting trial tests is recommended.

As for BATIMIX HWR 1413-M, it is compatible with various types of Portland cement and substitute materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag.

Dispensing

For improved precision and reliability, it is essential to employ automated dispensing systems when introducing BATIMIX HWR 1100-M into the concrete mixer. This ensures the consistent and accurate measurement of the product, preventing dosage fluctuations. Avoid adding this product directly onto dry cementitious particles. Instead, introduce it after approximately 2/3 of the mixing water has been incorporated to enhance its effectiveness and dispersal properties.
