Grinding aid and pack-set reducer for Portland cement

Description

BATIMIX GA 1103 is a grinding aid and a pack-set reducer additive based on high-grade combination of amines and glycerols. It is used in the manufacturing of Portland and other hydraulic cements.

BATIMIX GA 1103 provides all the benefits and advantages of traditional grinding aids such as increased cement fineness and grinding efficiency due to reduced agglomeration of the newly fractured cement particles.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX GA 1103 is particularly recommended for the grinding of:

  • Portland / blended cement
  • Suitable for Grey and White cement
  • Masonry / mortar cement
  • Mineral components such as slag and pozzolanic materials

Features

BATIMIX GA 1103 helps helps achieve the following:

  • Increased mill output at same cement fineness
  • Reduced grinding and energy costs
  • Reduced pack-set of cement and increased bulk density, leading to easier storage and transport
  • Reduced agglomeration and inter-particle attraction for easier flow characteristics
  • Easy and safe handling

Properties

  • Chemical base: amines, glycerols
  • Appearance: brown liquid
  • Specific gravity: 1.10 ± 0.02 at 23 ºC
  • pH: 8 ± 1 at 23 ºC

Health and Safety

BATIMIX GA 1103 may be irritant to the skin and eyes. If accidentally spilled onto the skin, wash immediately with soap and water. If accidentally splashed into the eyes, flush with plenty of water and consult a physician. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.

Standard Compliance

BATIMIX GA 1103 meets the requirements of ASTM C 465: Standard specification for processing additions for use in the manufacture of hydraulic cements.

Direction for use

BATIMIX GA 1103 is normally proportioned as received. Depending on the mill and operating conditions, it is recommended that industrial tests be conducted on site to determine the optimal dosage rate. In some cases, the product may be diluted with 10% to 50% water to facilitate greater proportioning accuracy and better additive distribution. Suitable dosage pumps with adjustable flow rates are recommended for accurate dosing. Kindly consult your Holderchem representative to determine the appropriate dilution rate.

Dosage rates

BATIMIX GA 1103 is used at recommended dosage rates, by weight of cement. Specific dosage depends on exact clinker composition and temperature, percent of clinker factor, and desired results and job conditions. For indication purposes, you may refer to the table below:

| Blaine surface area | Dosage rates | | ------------------- | ------------ | | < 3000 cm²/gram | 0.015-0.04% | | < 4500 cm²/gram | 0.025-0.07% | | < 6000 cm²/gram | 0.04-0.1% |

For best results, BATIMIX GA 1103 should be accurately dispensed using a calibrated dosing pump. Please consult your Holderchem representative for recommendation of suitable equipment, installation and dosage procedure.

Storage

BATIMIX GA 1103 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at ambient temperatures ranging from -10 to +50 ºC.
