Batimix Fiber M-880 - 6mm

Holderchem

Polypropylene synthetic fibers (6mm)

Description

BATIMIX Fiber M-880 - 6mm high-performance polypropylene fibers are designed specifically for reinforcing mortars and grouts. They provide optimum strength with improved resistance to cracking. They can be supplied in 6 mm length as Batimix Fiber M-880-3mm and may also be available in alternative lengths.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX Fiber M-880-6mm selected monofilaments totally disperse into the mortar and grout mix. Fibers are supplied in lengths of 3mm, 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm, to provide reduced cracking and long-term durability. They are used to produce fiber mortars and grouts for plastering, rendering, repair works, patching, pointing, and shotcrete.

Features

Mortars and grouts prepared with BATIMIX Fiber M-880-6mm are characterized by the following:

In the plastic state:

  • Controlled plastic shrinkage cracks
  • Minimized bleed water and segregation

In the hardened state:

  • Increased flexural and tensile strengths at all ages
  • A surface that is crack-free, with minimum drying and autogenous shrinkage
  • Increased toughness and resistance to creep and abrasion
  • Improved durability and longer service life

Properties

  • Appearance : propylene fiber
  • Specific gravity: around 0.92 at 23ºC
  • Alkali and alkali resistance: excellent
  • Water absorption: negligible
  • Length: 6 mm

Health and Safety

BATIMIX Fiber M-880-6mm is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or come into contact with eyes. Suitable goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.

Dosage Rates

BATIMIX Fiber M-880-6mm is normally used at a rate of 0.3% to 0.8% of the cement weight, depending on the amount of strength increase and degree of cracking expected. Prior to batching, primarily trials tests are recommended using the actual mix composition to assess various properties such as workability and strength.

Effect of Overdosing

An overdose of BATIMIX Fiber M-880-6mm will result in an increased cohesiveness of mortar resulting from the high level of friction. This would require addition of greater amounts of plasticizer / superplasticizer to ensure the targeted workability which, in its turn, would lead to some set retardation.

Compatibility

BATIMIX Fiber M-880-6mm is compatible with all other Batimix admixtures incorporated in the same mortar. Mortar mixtures based on Portland cement with or without replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag are also compatible with BATIMIX Fiber M-880-6mm.

Dispensing

BATIMIX Fiber M-880-6mm can be added any time prior to the application of mortar. It should be mixed with for a minimum of 3 minutes and at maximum speed to ensure total dispersion and uniformity throughout the mass mortar.

Storage

BATIMIX Fiber M-880-6mm must be stored on a clean surface, in dry conditions under cover and away from the possibility of damage. Storage of propylene fibers should be done under appropriate conditions to avoid fiber deterioration. Here are some general tips for storing propylene fibers:

Temperature: Propylene fibers must be supplied at a temperature between 10°C and 30°C. Higher temperatures can lead to fiber degradation.

Humidity: Propylene fibers should be tuned in a dry environment to avoid moisture absorption. High humidity can weaken the fibers and reduce their strength.

UV protection: Propylene fibers are sensitive to UV rays, which can lead to fiber degradation. It is therefore important to store the fibers in a dark place or to protect them with an opaque material.

Handling: When handling propylene fibres, it is important to avoid any contact with corrosive materials or heat sources. Fibers must be handled with care to avoid damage.

Storage life: Propylene fibers have a limited storage life. It is recommended to use them within six months of receiving them. If the storage of the fibers is to be extended for a longer period, they must be protected against environmental factors such as light and humidity.

By following these tips, you can store propylene fibers in optimal conditions to ensure their quality and lifespan.
