Polyvinyl Alcohol fibers reinforcement for concrete (8mm)
BATIMIX Fiber 670-8mm are high-performance polyvinyl alcohol fibers designed specifically for secondary reinforcing of concrete, stucco and precast. They provide optimum strength with improved resistance to cracking. They are used to control plastic shrinkage and improve abrasion resistance. At high dosages, they dramatically improve concrete flexural characteristics. They do not affect the curing process chemically. They are supplied in 8 mm length as Batimix Fiber 670-8mm and may also be available in alternative lengths of 6mms and 13 mms.
BATIMIX Fiber 670-8mm are made from carefully selected monofilaments that totally disperse into the concrete mix. Fibers are supplied in lengths of 8mm, to provide reduced cracking and long-term durability.
BATIMIX Fiber 670-8mm is used to produce concrete such as ready-mix, shotcrete, steel-reinforced, pumped, stucco, semi-dry and precast. Main uses include slabs, overlays, pipes, foundations, curbs, and patch repair. Polyvinyl alcohol fibers help the concrete at early ages, which is especially beneficial where stripping time and handling is important such as in semi-dry concrete applications. They are also used in self healing concrete mix designs.
Concrete prepared with BATIMIX Fiber 670-8mm is characterized by the following:
In the plastic state:
In the hardened state:
BATIMIX Fiber 670-8mm is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or come into contact with eyes. Suitable goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
BATIMIX Fiber 670-8mm is compatible with all other Batimix admixtures incorporated in the same mortar. Mortar mixtures based on Portland cement with or without replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag are also compatible with BATIMIX Fiber 670-8mm.
BATIMIX Fiber 670-8mm can be added any time prior to the application of mortar. It should be mixed with for a minimum of 3 minutes and at maximum speed to ensure total dispersion and uniformity throughout the mass mortar.
BATIMIX Fiber 670-8mm must be stored in a dry warehoused protected from moisture and rain. Storage of propylene fibers should be done under appropriate conditions to avoid fiber deterioration. Here are some general tips for storing propylene fibers:
Temperature: Propylene fibers must be supplied at a temperature between 10°C and 30°C. Higher temperatures can lead to fiber degradation.
Humidity: Propylene fibers should be tuned in a dry environment to avoid moisture absorption. High humidity can weaken the fibers and reduce their strength.
UV protection: Propylene fibers are sensitive to UV rays, which can lead to fiber degradation. It is therefore important to store the fibers in a dark place or to protect them with an opaque material.
Handling: When handling propylene fibres, it is important to avoid any contact with corrosive materials or heat sources. Fibers must be handled with care to avoid damage.
Storage life: Propylene fibers have a limited storage life. It is recommended to use them within six months of receiving them. If the fibers are to be extended for a longer period, they must be protected against environmental factors such as light and humidity.
By following these tips, you can store propylene fibers in optimal conditions to ensure their quality and lifespan.
