Batimix Epoxy Primer 160 T1

Holderchem

Solvent-free, epoxy primer for industrial floor applications - White or tinted

Description

BATIMIX Epoxy Primer 160 T1 is a two-component solvent-free low viscosity epoxy primer. It is used to seal and prime concrete and other substrates before the application of liquid resin systems. It is absorbed into the substrate, sealing off surface defects, which may cause bubbling on the final surface finish.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX Epoxy Primer 160-T1 is a two-pack epoxy resin of low viscosity, tinted with gray colored pigments for colored applications. It may be used to seal and reinforce porous concrete before the application of other resin-based flooring products.

Features

BATIMIX Epoxy Primer 160-T1 applied to a correctly prepared substrate yields bond strengths in excess of concrete, with failure occurring within the concrete rather than the epoxy system on test. It adheres well to concrete, metal, wood, and most flooring compositions.

Properties

  • Mixing ratio (Resin / Hardener): 1.8 / 1
  • Color: grayish
  • Viscosity at 20 °C (mixed): 5.0 poise
  • Pot life at 20 °C: 20-30 minutes
  • Pot life at 10 °C: 40-60 minutes
  • Hard dry at 20 °C: 15-20 hours
  • Hard dry at 10 °C: 16-24 hours
  • Full cure at 20 °C: 5-7 days
  • Compressive strength (N/mm²): 55 - 75
  • Flexural strength (N/mm²): 20 - 25
  • Tensile strength (N/mm²): 15 - 20
  • Bonding on concrete (N/mm²): > 3
  • Bonding on steel (N/mm²): > 1 to 2

Health and Safety

BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160-T1 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.

Application & Dosage Rates

Pour the full contents of the hardener container into the full contents of the resin container and mix thoroughly with a slow speed electric stirrer for a minimum of 2 minutes.

BATIMIX Epoxy Primer 160-T1 must be applied on sound and thoroughly cleaned substrates free of oil, dust, loose particles, and paints. The traces of mould joints must be leveled. All surfaces should be free from water prior to application. Admissible substrates include concrete, metal, wood, and most flooring compositions.

Apply by brush or roller, working the resin well into the surface. On porous surfaces apply further resin until the surface is completely wetted out. Push out the resin as thinly as possible, just leaving enough resin on the surface to give a wet appearance. Allow to cure hard before applications of the appropriate resin system.

The temperature during application should be between 5 and 35 °C, and the maximum moisture content (relative humidity) should not exceed of 75%.

BATIMIX Epoxy Primer 160-T1 is generally applied at a rate hovering 5 m2/L (for a thickness of 200 microns); however, this can reach 7 m²/L, depending on the porosity of the substrate. The product should be allowed to cure hard for minimum of 24 hours.
