Slip and chemical resistant mortar based on epoxy resin
BATIMIX Epoxy Mortar 200 is a solvent-based three-component epoxy mortar.
BATIMIX Epoxy Mortar 200 is a versatile product used for various applications such as bonding, coating, fixing, and steel protection. Applied onto substrates, it gives old and new concrete floors a very-hard surface that exhibits reduced slip and high chemical resistance.
It has a wide range of applications in new buildings and maintenance works. Typical areas of application include:
BATIMIX Epoxy Mortar 200 has the following characteristics:
BATIMIX Epoxy Mortar 200 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
Corrosion inhibitor or coating for steel protection: Only Part A (Resin) and Part B (Hardener) are normally mixed together. The Part B should be placed over Part A, and two components mixed thoroughly together using a slow speed mechanical mixer for around 3 minutes. The color should be uniform after mixing. The product can be diluted using solvents to reduce viscosity; however, kindly refer to Holderchem representatives.
The product should be applied at a thin layer using a brush, roller, or suitable spray gun. The minimum layer thickness is around 0.1 mm, when used as a bonding agent. Ensure that the product is worked well into the substrate to improve adhesion properties. While the epoxy is still tacky, the various materials should be connected with each other. The product should be protected to reach initial cure within 24 hours, and expected to have full performance after 5 days.
Reduced slip and improved chemical resistance of substrates: The three components of BATIMIX Epoxy Mortar 200 should be mixed together. Again, mixing should be realized mechanically for around 3 minutes. In some situations, the Parts A and B can be mixed together, then Part C is dry-sprinkled over the layer applied.
Surfaces should be well prepared prior to application; these must be dry, firm, and free from grout, dust, dirt, oil, grease and other impurities that can adversely affect uniform adhesion. If considered necessary, the surface can be sand blasted, flame scaled, milled or ground.
Immediately after priming, apply BATIMIX Epoxy Mortar 200 with a trowel or spatula to the required coating thickness. If needed, level off the coating with a smoothing blade. Compact your BATIMIX Epoxy Mortar 200 with a trowel. The material consumption varies depending on the applied thickness and absorbency of surface; it is estimated at approximately 200 to 400 g/m².
BATIMIX Epoxy Mortar 200 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 5 to 25 ºC.
