Solvent-based self-leveling epoxy floor coating
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 is a four-pack pigmented epoxy material (i.e., resin, hardener, filler, and colorant) of medium viscosity designed for durable high-end flooring applications. The colorant can be custom-made to suit clients’ needs.
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 is used for concrete and mild steel. It is self-leveling and possesses excellent abrasion resistance. It yields a hard wear coating that will withstand many years of traffic.
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 is particularly used in areas requiring good wear and chemical resistance combined with economical cost. It is suitable for chemical plant storage areas, warehouses, toilets, laboratories, and food preparation areas.
The strength of the bond of BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 to a well-prepared substrate exceeds the adhesion strength of concrete. Failure occurs within the concrete rather than the epoxy system on test.
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 adheres well to concrete, metal, wood, and most flooring compositions.
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
Surface preparation To be assured that maximum adhesion and improved properties from Holderchem resin products are obtained, proper and correct surface preparation are essential.
Application conditions BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 is a fairly thick resin that can be applied at a wide range of ambient temperatures. However, ambient temperatures in excess of 10 °C are preferable to increase bonding. The moisture content should not exceed 50% R.H.
Priming In general, BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 does not require the use of a primer. However, when treating weak or porous concrete it is advisable to prime with BATIMIX Epoxy Primer 152. Hence, mix the pre-measured quantities of the primer until homogenous liquid material is obtained. Then, apply the BATIMIX Epoxy Primer 152 by means of squeegee or roller at a rate hovering 350 gm/m². The covering with BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 should be realized after minimum of 16 hours and maximum of 4 days, mostly depending on curing conditions and ambient temperatures.
Mixing Add full contents of hardener container to full contents of resin container (i.e., A and B components) and mix with a slow speed stirrer for at least 1 minute. Add components C and D and mix for further 2 minutes until homogenous mix is obtained.
Application techniques BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 is pourable and should be spread out on the cured primer by means of appropriate tools such as squeegees or large trowel. Then, 10 minutes after application, treat with a spike roller to remove all entrapped air. Use coverage rates as a guide to thickness.
Thickness & coverage BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 will yield average thicknesses varying from 2 to 3 mm. For 2.5-mm thickness, the coverage rate is around 4.5 kg/m².
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 is compatible with and adheres to an extensive range of epoxy resin and polyurethane resin flooring systems.

For proper products usage, Holderchem provides complete technical laboratory support and on-site assistance pertaining to the application methods.
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 251 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 10 to 40 ºC.
