
Epoxy floor and wall coating
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160 is a solvent-free, pigmented, two-component, liquid epoxy resin based on formulated amine hardeners.
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160 is a coating material designed for concrete, masonry, and metal, such as iron and steel surfaces. It can be mixed with additives, as it has low viscosity, to produce flow mortars and filler compounds. It is primarily applied on floors and wall surfaces, which must withstand considerable chemical and mechanical loads. It is typically used in the chemical and textile industries. It is suitable to coat containers, silo constructions, sewage structures, battery plants, etc.
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160, after hardening, exhibits high mechanical strength, excellent resistance to abrasion, and good elasticity. It is weather-proof, waterproof, waste, and seawater proof. It has excellent resistance against organic and inorganic acids, mineral oils, and many solvents.
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160 is resistant to constant temperatures and temperature variations from -30°C to + 100°C of dry heat and up to + 60°C of wet heat. The mortars based on BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160 are resistant to dry heat temperatures of up to 120°C and wet heat temperatures of up to 80°C. For short periods, the mortars can withstand temperatures higher by 20°C to 30°C than those indicated hereinabove.
Floor coatings can be cleaned by steam jets.
BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
Surface preparation Cement bound surfaces must be dry, firm, offer good traction, be free from grout, dust, dirt, oil, grease and other impurities which can adversely affect uniform adhesion. lf considered necessary, the surface should be sand blasted, flame scaled, milled or ground.
Metal surfaces such as iron and steel must be free of rust, scale, oil, dust, grease and other dirt particles. The best method of preparation is to flame scale or sand blast.
Application Thin smooth coatings:
After applying a primer, sprinkle with fire dried quartz sand of 0,1 to 0,4 mm or 0,2 to 0,7 mm diameter. The estimated quantity of sprinkled sand is approximately 1.5 to 2 kg/m².
After an interval of 1 day, apply two top coatings of BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160. The material consumption is estimated at 500 g/m² per coating. The time interval between the top coatings should not exceed 1 day.
Thick smooth or skid-free coatings of 2 to 4 mm thicknesses:
Immediately after applying a primer, sprinkle with fire dried quartz sand of 0.1 to 0.4 mm diameter or 0.2 to 0.7 mm diameter. The quantity of sprinkled sand is estimated at 1.5 to 2 kg/m².
After a 1 day interval, apply the paving mortar, which should consist of the following: -1 part by volume of BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160 -1 part by volume of fire dried quartz sand of 0.1 to 0.4 or 0.2 to 0.7 mm diameter
When working on perpendicular surfaces, add 0.5 to 1 part by volume of a thickening agent such as Aerosil or Sylodex.
For horizontal surfaces, pour the material and distribute it with a spatula or squeegee to achieve the required coating thickness. For aeration and levelling, work over with a rough or spicked roller.
For vertical surfaces, spread the material with a smoothing tool to the required coating thickness.
The material consumption should hover around 900 g of pure BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160 per m² and mm coating thickness.

BATIMIX Epoxy Coating 160 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 5 to 25 ºC. Resins and hardeners are supplied in the correct ratios.
