Acrylic curing and sealing compound for mortars
BATIMIX Cure M-935 is a solvent-based acrylic curing and sealing compound. It is applied on newly-placed cementitious-based mortars.
When applied, BATIMIX Cure M-935 protects fresh mortar surfaces from the undesirable effects associated with the too rapid evaporation of surface moisture. It forms an impermeable film barrier against premature water loss. The film remains effective after the mortar has hardened, reducing any potential infiltration of moisture and aggressive ions.
This product is applied on mortars used in masonry and repair works for plastering, rendering, patching, and pointing.
Mortars protected with BATIMIX Cure M-935 are characterized by the following:
In the plastic state:
In the hardened state:
BATIMIX Cure M-935 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
BATIMIX Cure M-935 complies with ASTM C309. Upon request, alternative products can also be available to meet the various types and classes of ASTM C309.
BATIMIX Cure M-935 should be well stirred before use. Its optimum dosage on curing is best determined by trials using the actual mix composition with site materials under field conditions. As a guide to such trials, the coverage rates shall vary from 3 to 6 m2 per 1 kg of product.
For indication purposes, reductions in water evaporation up to 50% can be measured for mortar prepared with 25% Portland cement, 75% sand, W/C of 0.50, and BATIMIX Cure M-935 applied at a rate of 4.5 m2/kg compared to similar mortar left without curing agent
Over applications with BATIMIX Cure M-935 should be avoided as experience has showed that no additional protection can be achieved by doing so.
BATIMIX Cure M-935 is compatible with all types of Portland cement, whether white or grey, as well as with any replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag.
Applications of BATIMIX Cure M-935 may be done using spraying equipment or any other conventional method that can be used to evenly distribute the curing agent.
