Paraffin-wax curing compound for mortars
BATIMIX Cure M-930 is a paraffin wax emulsion liquid admixture designed for curing newly placed cementitious-based mortars.
BATIMIX Cure M-930 protects fresh mortar surfaces from the undesirable effects associated with too rapid evaporation of surface-moisture. It forms an impermeable film barrier against premature water loss. The film will, on weathering and/or attrition, gradually disintegrate, leaving a stain-free surface.
This product is applied on mortars used for masonry and repair for plastering, rendering, patching, and pointing.
Mortars protected with BATIMIX Cure M-930 are characterized by the following:
In the plastic state:
In the hardened state:
BATIMIX Cure M-930 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
BATIMIX Cure M-930 complies with ASTM C 309 Type 1, Class A. Upon request, alternative products can also be available to meet the various types and classes of ASTM C 309.
BATIMIX Cure M-930 should be well stirred before use. Its optimum dosage on curing is best determined by trials using the actual mix composition with site materials under field conditions. As a guide to such trials, the coverage rates shall vary from 2 to 5 m² per 1 kg of product.
For indication purposes, reductions in water evaporation up to 50% can be measured for mortar prepared with 25% Portland cement, 75% sand, W/C of 0.50, and BATIMIX Cure M-930 applied at a rate of 3 m²/kg compared to similar mortar left without curing agent.
Over applications with BATIMIX Cure M-930 should be avoided as experience has showed that no additional protection can be achieved by doing so.
BATIMIX Cure M-930 is compatible with all types of Portland cement, whether white or grey, as well as with any replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag.
Applications of BATIMIX Cure M-930 may be done using spraying equipment or any other conventional method that can be used to evenly distribute the curing agent.
Holderchem S.A.L. provides, upon request, technical advisory services pertaining to mix design, admixture selection, and materials evaluation.
BATIMIX Cure M-930 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 2 to 50 ºC.
