Water-based polymer resin concrete curing compound

Description

BATIMIX Cure 753 is a water-based polymer emulsion curing compound for concrete. It is ideally designed for use on concrete that will subsequently be painted, tiled, or treated in any manner since it leaves no adverse residue on the concrete surface. The residual film is harder than wax resin-based curing compounds, providing resistance to abrasion. It also prepares concrete surfaces for future treatment and acts as a bond breaker between initial and subsequent concrete pours. It is void of pigmentation.

Main Purpose

BATIMIX Cure 753 protects fresh concrete surfaces from the undesirable effects of the too-rapid evaporation of surface moisture. Upon application, it forms an impermeable film barrier against premature water loss. Weathering and attrition factors will cause the film to disintegrate gradually, leaving a stain-free surface.

This product may be applied to both plain and reinforced ordinary and high-performance concrete and shotcrete.

Features

Concrete protected with BATIMIX Cure 753 is characterized by the following:

In the plastic state:

  • Reduced level of water evaporation of fresh concrete
  • Improved hydration of all types of cement
  • Reduced plastic and drying shrinkages

In the hardened state:

  • Reduced construction times associated with concrete curing
  • Increased compressive and flexural strengths
  • Improved resistance to water permeability
  • Improved durability and surface quality

Properties

  • Appearance: white liquid, but the film becomes transparent when it dries
  • Specific gravity : around 1.01 at 23 ºC
  • Chloride content: nil
  • Freezing point : 0 ºC

Health and Safety

BATIMIX Cure 753 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.

STANDARD COMPLIANCE

BATIMIX Cure 753 complies with ASTM C309 Type 2, Class A.

COVERAGE / DOSAGE RATES

BATIMIX Cure 753 should be well stirred before use. Its optimum dosage on curing is best determined by trials using the actual mix composition with site materials under field conditions. As a guide to such trials, the coverage rates shall vary from 2 to 5 m² per 1 kg of product.

For indication purposes, reductions in water evaporation up to 25% can be measured for concrete prepared with 350 kg/m³ of Portland cement, W/C of 0.50, and BATIMIX Cure 753 applied at a rate of 3.5 m²/kg compared to similar concrete left without curing agent.

EFFECT OF OVERDOSING

Over applications with BATIMIX Cure 753 should be avoided as experience has showed that no additional protection can be achieved by doing so.

COMPATIBILITY

BATIMIX Cure 753 is compatible with all types of Portland cement, whether white or grey, as well as with any replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag

APPLICATION /DISPENSING

Applications of BATIMIX Cure 753 may be done using spraying equipment or any other conventional method that can be used to evenly distribute the curing agent.
