Pigments offering various mortars and grouts colors
BATIMIX Color M-860 is a powder pigmented admixture available in various colors to permit the accurate production of colored cementitious-based systems such as concrete, mortars, and sand/lime/cement mixes.
BATIMIX Color M-860 yields uniform dispersion and high-quality color throughout the mass of mortars and grouts. Applications include plastering, rendering, patching, pointing, and other types of architectural and masonry works.
Mortars prepared with BATIMIX Color M-860 are characterized by the following:
In the plastic state:
In the hardened state:
BATIMIX Color M-860 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
The optimum dosage of BATIMIX Color M-860 to reach specific color requirements is dependent on the mortar’s formulation and sources of raw materials used. To ensure accurate and consistent results, trial tests are highly recommended using the actual mix design with site materials under conditions that will be experienced in the field. As a guide to such trials, the addition rates shall vary from 0.2% to 1% of the cementitious materials.
It is important to note that color variations may occur due to different ambient conditions and jobsite techniques.
An overdose of BATIMIX Color M-860 will generally lead to a more contrasted colored mortar. A slight reduction in the early and late age compressive strengths may be noticed.
BATIMIX Color M-860 is compatible with all types of Portland cement, replacement materials such as silica fume, and other Holderchem admixtures incorporated in the same mortar. During batching, all admixtures should be added separately to the mortar mix. The performance of various admixtures should be assessed using trial tests.
Mix thoroughly the cement and sand with the proper amount of BATIMIX Color M-860 for a minimum of 3 minutes before adding water to ensure uniform color of the total mix. Care should be taken to keep quantities of all raw materials used constant from batch to batch.
For proper products usage, Holderchem provides complete technical laboratory support and on-site assistance pertaining to the mortar mix design, admixture selection, and trial tests.
BATIMIX Color M-860 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 2 to 50 ºC.
