Description

BATIMIX Block Fix 230 is a pre-packaged mortar specifically designed for assembling all kinds of clay, concrete, stone masonry units, and hollow blocks. It is composed of a blend of masonry cement (i.e. Portland cement and fillers) together with carefully graded sand and selected additives introduced to enhance desirable properties such as workability, water retention, and durability.

Main Purpose

Main applications include the following:

  • Assembling of masonry units in interior and exterior elements, above and below grade level
  • Laying bricks, stones, pavers, and concrete blocks in load and non-load bearing partitions and walls
  • Blinding mortars for preparing horizontal surfaces before construction

Health and Safety

BATIMIX Block Fix 230 contains Portland cement, which is irritating to the eyes and skin. Wear normal safety gear, such as rubber gloves, dust masks, and safety glasses to handle ordinary cement-based products. Kindly consult the product Material Safety Data Sheet.

Directions for Use

BATIMIX Block Fix 230 should be mixed with 7 to 8.5 liters of clean water per bag of 50 kg. The powder can be mixed manually or mechanically for a minimum of 3 minutes or until a homogenous paste is obtained.

BATIMIX Block Fix 230 is applied manually using a trowel on damp and clean surfaces. Do not apply when ambient temperatures are more than 35 °C or less than 5 °C. To avoid quick drying of the mortar, users should protect the application area from direct sun, retemper with added water if needed to restore the workability, and frequently moisturize the substrate. The average consumption rates of a 50-kg bag of BATIMIX Block Fix 230 are:

• For 10-cm width blocks: 3.5 m2 per 10 mm thick layer
• For 15-cm width blocks: 2.5 m2 per 10 mm thick layer • For 20-cm width blocks: 2.0 m2 per 10 mm thick layer

Compliance with Standards

BATIMIX Block Fix 230 is manufactured to conform to all current requirements of EN 998-2 Grade M 30 for Masonry Mortar and ASTM C 270 Type M for Mortar for Unit Masonry.

Storage

BATIMIX Block Fix 230 shelf life is six months from the production date if well stored in a closed dry place. Avoid freezing and excessive temperatures.
