Water-based acrylic anti-carbonation protective coating
BATIMIX Anti-Carbonation M-921 is designed from acrylic polymers blended with selected chemicals to protect atmospherically exposed reinforced concrete structures, cementitious-based substrates, and masonry from aggressive elements and weathering attacks.
BATIMIX Anti-Carbonation M-921 is applied as a coating to protect exposed concrete and masonry substrates from aggressive elements such as carbon dioxide, chloride ions, and water. It is applied to concrete and mortar structures that are used in residential and commercial buildings. Applications also include bridge abutments, boundary walls, storage tanks, and other infrastructure elements.
Substrates treated with BATIMIX Anti-Carbonation M-921 are characterised by the following:
BATIMIX Anti-Carbonation M-921 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
The substrate should be dry prior to the application. It should be thoroughly cleaned from all dust, grout, dirt particles, oil grease, or other impurities which can adversely affect uniform adhesion.
Apply BATIMIX Anti-Carbonation M-921 using a brush, roller, or spraying machine until the substrate is saturated. The material consumption is estimated at about 4 to 10 m2 per kg, depending on the porosity of the substrate. Two or three coats may be required in case the structure is exposed to highly aggressive ions.
BATIMIX Anti-Carbonation M-921 is compatible with all types of cementitious-based substrates made using Portland cement or replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, or blast furnace slag. Its final performance should be assessed using trial tests.
BATIMIX Anti-Carbonation M-921 can be applied using a brush, roller, or any suitable spraying machine. Shake well the product prior to application.
