Air entraining and strength enhancer additive for Portland and masonry cements
BATIMIX Air 4102 is an aqueous solution of a long-chain olefin sulfonate and specialty strength-enhancing chemicals. It is used in the manufacture of air-entraining Portland and masonry types of cement.
BATIMIX Air 4102 improves air-entrainment without compromising the development of early and late age compressive strengths. It triggers by agitation and stabilization the formation of microscopic bubbles in the cement paste of mortar and concrete mixes, improving their workability and plasticity. It reduces the water demand of both mortar and concrete without any slump loss. It yields effective results in both open and closed circuit cement mills.
BATIMIX Air 4102 is used in the grinding process to enhance the properties of mortars and Portland, masonry, and blended cement. It optimizes the grinding efficiency of both white and gray cement.
BATIMIX Air 4102 provides the following performances:
• Increases mill output at the same cement fineness • Enhances grain size distribution for optimized initial and final strengths of cement • Increases level of air entrainment (up to 35%) according to specification requirements • Improves workability and plasticity for mortar and masonry applications • Compensates the reduction in compressive strength through increased hydration rates and skeleton compacity • Improves workability and plasticity for mortar and masonry applications • Easy and safe handling
BATIMIX Air 4102 may be irritant to the skin and eyes. If accidentally spilled onto the skin, wash immediately with soap and water, and if splashed into the eyes, flush with plenty of water and consult a physician. For additional information, kindly refer to the corresponding Material Safety Datasheet.
Appearance: brown liquid Specific gravity: 1.06± 0.02 at 23 ºC pH: 10 ± 1 Chloride content: nil Alkali content: typically less than 0.5% as Na2O
BATIMIX Air 4102 is normally proportioned as received. Depending on the mill and operating conditions, it is recommended that industrial tests be conducted on site to determine the optimal dosage rate. For indication purposes, dosages varying from 0.1% to 0.5% of cement mass can be used.
In some cases, the product may be diluted with 10% to 50% water to facilitate greater proportioning accuracy and better additive distribution. Kindly consult your HOLDERCHEM representative to determine the appropriate dilution rate. BATIMIX Air 4102 is introduced into the first or second compartment of the grinding mill to maximize dispersion and product efficiency. It can also be sprinkled onto the dry clinker on the feeding conveyor belt.
For best results, BATIMIX Air 4102 should be accurately dispensed using a calibrated dosing pump. Please consult your Holderchem representative for recommendation of suitable equipment, installation and dosage procedure.
Since BATIMIX Air 4102 has a low freezing point; therefore no anti-freeze precautions are needed in bulk installations. If storage tanks are expected to be exposed to temperatures below -10 ºC, tanks and conveying lines should be insulated and heated to prevent excessive increase in viscosity and to maintain pumpability.
If frozen, BATIMIX Air 4102 can be heated up to room temperature of +20ºC or higher and completely reconstituted by light mechanical agitation. Avoid agitation by pressurized air.
BATIMIX Air 4102 meet ASTM C 465: Standard specification for processing additions for use in the manufacture of hydraulic cements, and ASTM C 226: Standard specification for air-entraining additions for use in the manufacture of air-entraining hydraulic cement.
