Air entraining agent for concrete
BATIMIX AEA-110 is an aqueous solution of modified resins and surfactants. It is used as an air-entraining admixture for all types of concrete.
BATIMIX AEA-110 is designed to produce air-entrained concrete for increased durability and resistance to damage by frost and de-icing salts. It is also used to improve the cohesion and workability of concrete. It is used in concrete produced from poorly graded aggregates or when bleeding and segregation phenomena occur.
Applications using BATIMIX AEA-110 include concrete castings such as plain, reinforced, paving, ready-mixed, pumped, and lightweight, particularly when exposed to freeze/thaw conditions.
Concrete prepared with BATIMIX AEA-110 is characterized by the following:
In the plastic state:
In the hardened state:
BATIMIX AEA-110 is not a hazardous material. However, it should not be swallowed or allowed to come into contact with skin and eyes. Suitable gloves and goggles should be worn. For additional information, kindly refer to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet.
BATIMIX AEA-110 complies with the following standards:
An overdose of BATIMIX AEA-110 will result in an increase in air entrainment which may significantly reduce strength. The degree of this effect will depend on the particular mix design and overdose level. The increased air content from an overdose will generally tend to lead to an increased plasticizing effect.
BATIMIX AEA-110 is compatible with all other Batimix admixtures incorporated in the same concrete. During batching, all admixtures should be added separately to the concrete mix as this may alter their performances.
Concrete mixtures based on Portland cement with or without replacement materials such as silica fume, fly ash, and blast furnace slag are compatible with BATIMIX AEA-110.
Automatic dispensing systems should preferably be used to introduce the correct quantity of BATIMIX AEA-110 in the concrete mixer. This admixture should be added at the beginning of mixing, i.e. after incorporating around 1/3 of the mixing water along with the aggregate particles. It should not be introduced on the dry cement.
Holderchem provides, upon request, technical advisory services for concrete mix design, admixture selection, materials testing, and dispensing system.
BATIMIX AEA-110 has a minimum shelf life of 12 months if kept unopened and stored at temperatures ranging from 2 to 50 ºC.
